The Jaipur Literature Festival is set to make its largest-ever appearance in North America, with US and Canadian editions scheduled across seven cities from September 11 to October 4. This expansive tour will feature more than 100 global speakers, including notable figures like Shashi Tharoor, Kai Bird, and Yann Martel.
The festival's North American presence will include stops in North Carolina, Los Angeles, Seattle, Colorado, Toronto, New York, and Houston. Los Angeles and Toronto are joining the festival circuit for the first time. These events will explore a wide range of contemporary issues, such as artificial intelligence, geopolitics, Indigenous rights, climate change, and migration.
Organizers emphasize that each city's program will be tailored to local audiences and collaborators, creating locally rooted encounters rather than a uniform experience. The festival's programming is approximately 35% fiction and 65% non-fiction, aiming to bridge the divide between arts and sciences to foster innovation. A travelling visual art exhibition by photographer Vicky Roy will also be part of the festival in Los Angeles and Seattle.
