12 Oct
Summary
- Actors Suraj Venjaramoodu and Mirnaa mocked the song's lyrics.
- The song 'Ala Bolelo' faced criticism for inauthentic Malayalam.
- Jailer 2 is set to release on October 15.

Actors Suraj Venjaramoodu and Mirnaa playfully addressed the Malayalam-like lyrics in the song 'Ala Bolelo' from Rajinikanth's upcoming film Jailer 2. Their light-hearted jabs, directed at composer Anirudh Ravichander and director Nelson Dilipkumar, elicited laughter from the film's crew.
The song, released by Sun Pictures, had previously drawn criticism from some Malayali listeners who questioned the authenticity of its language and pronunciation. Concerns were raised about the accurate representation of Malayalam and Kerala's cultural identity in films produced outside the state.
During a promotional event, when asked by Nelson Dilipkumar if the song contained Malayalam lyrics, Suraj Venjaramoodu humorously retorted, "'Ala Bolelo, Pitha Bolelo' what Malayalam is this even?" Mirnaa added that they couldn't find the words in dictionaries, sparking a humorous exchange.
Anirudh Ravichander appeared to take the feedback in good spirits. Director Nelson Dilipkumar clarified that he had requested a song with a Malayalam sound but was unsure of its linguistic accuracy. This situation echoes previous criticism, such as the song 'Manasilaayo' from Rajinikanth's 2024 film Vettaiyan.
Despite the inclusion of the chenda, a traditional Kerala percussion instrument, critics felt it did not compensate for what they perceived as inaccurate lyrical content. Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, including on IMAX screens. The film features a star-studded cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan, and SJ Suryah.
