Jailer 2 Release Date Shifted: Krishna Jayanthi Target?

Reports indicate that the release of Rajinikanth's "Jailer 2" has been postponed. The film, initially expected in August 2026, is now rumored to target September 4, 2026. This new date strategically aligns with the occasion of Krishna Jayanthi. Makers are reportedly considering multiple release windows between June and August before settling on the revised September date.

This adjustment aligns with a wider rescheduling pattern observed among significant Tamil film releases. Other major productions, including Suriya's "Vishwanath & Sons" and Soori's "Mandadi," are also reportedly considering release periods around August 2026. "Jailer 2" will see Nelson Dilipkumar return to direct, with Rajinikanth reprising his role as Muthuvel Pandian.

The sequel boasts an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also anticipated to make cameo appearances. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan was reportedly considered for a cameo but declined due to prior commitments.

Rajinikanth has several other projects in the pipeline, including "Thalaivar 173" and a future collaboration with Nelson Dilipkumar and Kamal Haasan slated for next year.
