13 Oct
Summary
- Jailer 2 releases October 15, starring Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian.
- New stars like Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi join the cast.
- The sequel features higher stakes and a more expanded universe.
Superstar Rajinikanth is set to electrify the screens once again as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian in the much-anticipated Jailer 2, premiering on October 15.
Initially hesitant about a sequel, Rajinikanth found renewed potential in the story's ending, particularly the mention of Varman's network and valuable containers. Director Nelson Dilipkumar has significantly broadened the film's universe, introducing a larger ensemble of characters.
While key cast members like Ramya Krishnan and Mohanlal return, Jailer 2 boasts an impressive lineup of new additions. Hrithik Roshan, Vijay Sethupathi, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborthy, and SJ Suryah will be seen alongside Rajinikanth, marking a significant crossover event for Indian cinema.
The sequel's plot sees Muthuvel Pandian in a quiet retired life as a van driver, which is disrupted by the entry of a major criminal, Kalpaks, portrayed by Mithun Chakraborthy. This forces Pandian to confront a larger threat to protect his family.
Vidya Balan plays Kantha, a powerful character who directly challenges Rajinikanth's role, while Hrithik Roshan is reported to have a larger-than-life character with a highlight combination scene with the superstar. Music director Anirudh Ravichander returns, aiming to replicate the success of the first film's score, though a song similar to 'Kaavaala' featuring Tamannaah Bhatia is notably absent.
Jailer 2 is expected to retain Nelson Dilipkumar's signature blend of humor, action, style, and impactful dialogues, promising a massive entertainer for the audience.
