On October 22nd, 2025, JAFF Market 2025 has unveiled the second edition of its JAFF Future Project, a development platform and co-production hub designed to advance independent works toward completion and distribution. The initiative is part of the broader 20th-anniversary celebration of the Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF).
The JAFF Future Project's 2025 lineup features 10 fiction and documentary titles spanning the Asia-Pacific region, showcasing a roster of established and emerging filmmakers. Notable names include acclaimed Korean director Park Kiyong, who returns with "Ghost Island," and Australian director Aaron Wilson, presenting "Under the Banyan Moon." The selection process drew from an open call, with a committee evaluating projects based on storytelling, creative vision, feasibility, and market readiness.
Participating filmmakers will have the opportunity to pitch their works and engage in one-on-one meetings with industry partners during the three-day market. Selected projects will compete for awards totaling more than $74,000 in cash and production support, including equipment, sound design, and post-production packages.
"Our selection process goes beyond curating stories," said Linda Gozali, market director of JAFF Market. "It's about identifying creators who can inspire new partnerships and push their projects toward realization."
