From Loo Scrubber to Netflix Deal: Jade Franks' Rise

Jade Franks, a comedian from Merseyside, has achieved significant recognition with her play "Eat the Rich." The show chronicles her personal journey as a working-class student at Cambridge, highlighting the stark contrasts and struggles she faced compared to her affluent peers, including working as a cleaner while studying. The play has garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

This success has led to "Eat the Rich" being optioned for a television adaptation by Netflix, in partnership with It's All Made Up Productions. Franks, inspired by artists like Michaela Coel, initially developed the piece as a stand-up set. Her journey also involved working at the Royal Court Theatre, where she met her core creative team.

Franks is passionate about addressing class inequality within the arts. She plans to leverage her success, particularly if the Netflix deal materializes, to fund initiatives that support aspiring working-class comedians and theatre practitioners.
