Rossellini Honors Family Legacy at Locarno

Isabella Rossellini was celebrated with the Excellence Award at the recent Locarno Film Festival. She expressed profound emotion receiving the honor, noting that both her father, Roberto Rossellini, and her brother, Renzo Rossellini, had previously been recognized at the festival. Her father received an award in 1948 for "Germany, Year Zero," and her brother, a producer for Fellini and Scola, was honored four years prior.

During a masterclass, Rossellini, who holds a degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation, discussed her popular web series "Green Porno" and "Seduce Me." These projects delve into animal mating rituals using a deliberately low-tech style, inspired by Georges Méliès. Rossellini explained that animals are her muses, driven by a lifelong fascination with biology and diversity, not politics.

She also touched upon her career path, which included modeling and journalism after early acting criticism. Rossellini mentioned working on her mother Ingrid Bergman's film "A Matter of Time" and collaborating with directors like David Lynch and James Gray. She revealed that she ventured into directing in her 50s, often feeling a decade behind her aspirations.
