Iranian Archive Film Premieres at NY Film Fest

Iranian filmmaker Mani Haghighi's documentary, "I Deserve a Lover Whose Every Rise Sets Fiery Dooms Raging Across the Skies," will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival. The film is set in Iran during a period between the 12-Day War and subsequent attacks by the U.S. and Israel.

It follows artists Nasser Bakhshi and Roghayeh Najdi, whose lives are intertwined with a vast private archive. This collection includes decades of photographs, documents, and discarded objects, creating an improvised museum of neglected lives.

The archive highlights sex workers, young soldiers, child laborers, and ordinary families through abandoned albums and fragmented memories. Films Boutique has acquired worldwide rights and praises the film's inventive approach to cultural preservation.

Haghighi previously collaborated with Films Boutique on "Pig" and "Subtraction." This new documentary is described as his most culturally urgent work to date, balancing sociopolitical depth with formal experimentation.
