Rafaela Camayo's debut feature, "The Nature of Invisible Things," has been acquired by Sundance TV for Spain and RTP for Portugal. This international sales success follows the film's acclaimed premiere at the Berlinale, where it opened the Generation Kplus strand.
The coming-of-age drama centers on two 10-year-old girls who form a bond at a hospital, exploring how children process complex adult themes like death and grief. Director Camayo stated her fascination with supportive female relationships inspires her work.
Camayo is developing two future projects: "The Favorite Daughter," a family drama about sibling inheritance disputes, scheduled to begin shooting in October. "The Older Sister," a supernatural tale about a medium and her daughters, has received funding and lab selections, securing a distribution deal.
The Open Reel, an Italian sales agent, is handling international sales for "The Nature of Invisible Things" and other Brazilian films, including works by Grace Passó, Marcelo Gomes, Maria Clara Escobar, and Juliana Rojas.
