Ingrid Guimarães Tackles Powerful Trans Family Story in New Drama

In a significant career move, Ingrid Guimarães, one of Brazil's most popular comedic actors, is set to star in the drama "Minha Criança Trans?" ("My Trans Child?"). The project, currently in development, is scheduled to begin production in 2027.

Guimarães, known for her blockbuster comedy hits, is pivoting to a more dramatic role for the first time in over a decade. The film is based on the personal experiences of writer Thamirys Nunes, who struggled to find appropriate support while raising her transgender child. Nunes' story, blending memoir and social reflection, will serve as the foundation for the movie.

Produced by Guilherme Coelho and Mariana Ferraz of Matizar Filmes, the project has secured distribution and co-investment from Vitrine Filmes, a major independent distributor in Brazil. Guimarães, who holds the record for the largest national box office of the decade, says the story is a "powerful reminder that love transcends labels" and a "deeply personal mission" to bring it to the screen.

The film promises to offer a fresh and courageous cinematic perspective on gender identity and family, strengthening Brazil's growing commitment to telling stories that matter. As Guimarães embarks on her first dramatic role, the project is poised to captivate audiences with its sensitive exploration of motherhood, listening, and acceptance.
