Influencer Faces Body Shaming After Alia Bhatt Recreation

Following Alia Bhatt's appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, fashion creator Sakshi Sindwani recreated the actor's peach couture ensemble. However, the recreation led to widespread body shaming and unkind remarks directed at Sindwani online. She shared her experience, stating her project aimed to promote fashion and self-expression across all body types, not to mimic celebrities.

Sindwani revealed that the negative comments, particularly in direct messages, have deeply affected her mental health. Psychotherapist Sonal Khangarot explains that body shaming can inflict deep wounds on young individuals' self-worth, potentially leading to internalized shame, anxiety, and social withdrawal.

Khangarot further notes that persistent external scrutiny, especially in demanding industries, fuels self-doubt. When self-worth is tied to appearance, flaws can feel magnified, creating a cycle of inadequacy driven by social comparison and internalized beauty standards. True body acceptance, she concludes, stems from self-compassion, not external validation.
