These projects aim to elevate Indonesian cinema on the international stage by embracing popular genres.
Crimson Rain, written and directed by Robert Ronny, features Reza Rahadian and is described as a blend of procedural crime drama and occult horror, set against a backdrop of ritualistic murders in Jakarta. No Limit, also directed by Ronny, stars Vino G. Bastian in a high-octane thriller about vengeance and illegal gambling.
Oki & Nirmala, directed by Hanung Bramantyo and starring Tissa Biani, follows a teenage fairy destined to protect her kingdom from a dark spirit. Production for Oki & Nirmala is scheduled to begin in August, with delivery set for March 2027. Crimson Rain will commence shooting in mid-2027 for a 2028 delivery, while No Limit aims for a December 2026 production start with a 2027 delivery.
