The second annual Indonesia-France Film Lab is currently underway in Yogyakarta from November 27th to December 1st. This collaborative initiative, presented as Indonesia France Film Lab X MTN Lab, is hosted within the JAFF Market framework and supported by Indonesia's Ministry of Culture and other industry associations.
The lab has selected six promising Indonesian director-producer teams to develop their feature films. They will participate in intensive scriptwriting workshops led by French consultants and industry sessions with prominent French film professionals, including representatives from La Semaine de la Critique at Cannes. This provides invaluable mentorship and exposure.
This program aims to nurture emerging Indonesian talent, dubbed 'the Indonesian new wave,' fostering co-production opportunities and pathways to the international market. Future projects developed here are slated for presentation at a 2026 co-production meeting involving several Asian countries, highlighting a strong commitment to global cinematic exchange.
