Indie Lyricist Adesh Reveals Secrets to Crafting Chartbusting Film Songs

As of November 2025, indie lyricist Adesh Krishna has made a name for himself in the Tamil film industry, penning the lyrics for several hit songs. Apart from his independent works, Adesh has written the lyrics for chartbusters like "Katchi Sera" and "Vizhi Veekura."
Adesh believes that a song can never be engineered to become a hit. "You can never construct a hit. You go in with a gut feeling that the song will resonate, but cannot predict the numbers it is going to garner," he says. Adesh shares that he is fully satisfied once he hears the final output, and considers the rest as a bonus.
The lyricist has a close collaborative relationship with composer Sai Abhyankkar, whom he has known since their school days. Around the COVID-19 period, Adesh asked Sai if he had a tune he could write for, and the two have been working together ever since. Adesh describes their process as a very collaborative one.

Adesh has also worked on the song "Unadhu Enadhu" for the film Madharaasi, composed by industry stalwart Anirudh Ravichander and directed by AR Murugadoss. Despite being a newcomer, Adesh shares that he felt welcomed by the established artists, as they were "very down to earth."
