Indie Drama 'Petunia' Explores Love and Financial Strain

Two days ago, it was announced that indie drama 'Petunia' has been completed. The film, written and directed by emerging filmmaker Alec C. Cohen, follows a young couple, Alex and Lily, whose beloved cat falls critically ill. As they desperately try to raise the necessary funds, the mounting pressure exposes cracks in their relationship, testing the limits of their love, sacrifice, and resilience against the backdrop of financial strain.

The film features a talented cast, including Charlie McDermott ("The Middle"), Vanessa Marano ("Gilmore Girls," "Switched at Birth"), and John Ross Bowie ("Speechless," "The Big Bang Theory"). It also stars Joshua Burge, Lucy Loken, Lana McKissack, Joy Brunson, Devon Werkheiser, Chris Candy, and Paul Eiding.

Cohen, who independently financed and produced the film, described 'Petunia' as a story "about the impossible choices young people face when love collides with the harsh realities of money." He added that it's "a story about resilience, about the bonds we form with the animals who become family, and about what it means to hold on to each other when the world feels like it's falling apart."
