India's First AI Actor Naina Avtr Challenges Hollywood's AI Star Tilly Norwood

In November 2025, India's first AI actor, Naina Avtr, has made her debut in the micro-drama 'Truth & Lies', starring alongside human performers. Naina Avtr, created by Avtr Meta Labs, is a digital performer designed to blend technology with the emotional depth typically associated with human storytelling.

While India's first AI-powered series, 'Mahabharat - Ek Dharmayudh', premiered earlier this year, and several AI-based feature films are in the pipeline, Naina Avtr represents a unique AI performer. Abhishek Razdhan, the co-founder and CEO of Avtr Meta Labs, explains that the idea behind Naina was to create an AI character that could operate across languages, platforms, and formats, while maintaining a sense of relatability.

Naina Avtr is positioned to challenge Hollywood's AI-generated actor, Tilly Norwood, created by the talent studio Xicoia. Razdhan says that while international AI avatars tend to be technologically impressive yet emotionally distant, Naina is "story-first" and built on Indian emotional grammar, giving her a universality that goes beyond language or geography.

As Naina Avtr begins to influence audiences, Avtr Meta Labs has developed the AI actor around the concept of "responsible imagination," ensuring that all narratives involving Naina go through ethical checks related to misrepresentation, consent, and misinformation.
