Women in Film India, in partnership with Jio Studios, has launched a significant scholarship program. This initiative is designed to enable mid-career Indian women producers to attend the Producers Network at the Cannes Film Market. The program, supported by the market itself, opens applications with a deadline of April 5. Selected recipients will participate in the Producers Network Breakfast series during the market, which takes place from May 13 to May 18 in Cannes. This platform is recognized as a vital hub for forging international co-production partnerships.
Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios emphasized the studio's commitment to inclusive voices, stating, "We believe the future of cinema is being shaped by more inclusive voices." She highlighted Jio Studios' dedication to supporting women storytellers. Guneet Monga Kapoor, a founder of Women in Film India, shared her personal experience, noting the Producers Network's role in her own development and her desire to provide similar opportunities to her peers. This scholarship marks an expansion of a program WIF India initiated last year.
