In October 2025, the second edition of the Indian Film Festival in Russia was held, reaffirming the long-standing cultural ties between the two nations. The festival, organized by the Embassy of India with support from the Russian Ministry of Culture, traveled to 5 cities - St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Yakutsk, and Vladivostok - showcasing the power of cinema to unite audiences beyond borders.
The event kicked off with a magical performance by artistes from the Kostroma Theatre, who enthralled the audience with their rendition of "Sakhi Piya" from the 2007 film Khoya Khoya Chand. The festival then went on to screen 5 diverse Indian films, including Milan Talkies, Pushkara, Gems, and Snow Flower, further strengthening the cultural exchange.
The festival was attended by Indian filmmakers, actors, and industry experts, who shared their insights and experiences. Sudhir Mishra, whose film Khoya Khoya Chand was screened, spoke about his admiration for the great Russian filmmakers and the privilege of showcasing Indian cinema to Russian audiences. The event also featured the first "TIME: Russia - India Mutual Efficiency" Business Forum, fostering collaboration between the two countries.
