Tamil Horror: Vampire-Monster Hybrid Terrorizes Chennai

Tamil cinema explores uncharted territory with "Immortal," a film combining fantasy, horror, romance, and survival thriller elements, starring GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar.

The narrative begins with a glimpse into ancient mythology before shifting to present-day Chennai. Magi, a young man struggling to find affordable housing, serendipitously finds a room to rent with a young woman named Sindhu. Initially appearing as an attraction, their cohabitation quickly turns sinister as Magi realizes he is trapped with Sindhu and her dangerous secret.

Director Mariyappan Chinna deserves recognition for attempting a novel concept, drawing from mythology to establish the creature's origins. The film's first half focuses on character development and the romantic angle, while the second half escalates into a survival thriller following the revelation of Sindhu's true nature.

Despite an intriguing premise, the film suffers from a flawed screenplay that meanders and fails to build sufficient emotional investment. The unique monster-vampire hybrid creature's characteristics are not clearly defined, leaving audiences confused about its motives and origins. However, GV Prakash Kumar effectively portrays Magi's vulnerability, and Kayadu Lohar competently balances charm with menace. Sam CS's background score enhances the tension, and the visual effects are adequate for the monster element.
