The 24th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) unveiled its full program, featuring 27 films from South Asia and its diaspora. The festival opens with Mahesh Narayanan's espionage thriller "Patriot," starring Malayalam cinema icons Mohanlal and Mammootty, which makes its U.S. premiere.
Closing night will present the North American premiere of Anusha Rizvi's comedy "The Great Shamsuddin Family." The lineup, reflecting a significant increase in women filmmakers, spans seven narrative features, two documentaries, and 18 shorts. Films hail from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, France, the U.K., Netherlands, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the U.S.
Notable narrative features include Seemab Gul's "Ghost School" and Mahde Hasan's "Sand City." Documentaries like Karla Murthy's "The Gas Station Attendant" and Ben Rekhi and Swetlana's "Breaking the Code" offer personal insights.
