IFC has secured the U.S. distribution rights for Macon Blair's upcoming dark road trip comedy, "The Shitheads." The film recently garnered positive attention following its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
Written and directed by Blair, the movie centers on two "unqualified bozos," portrayed by Dave Franco and O'Shea Jackson Jr., who embark on a mission to transfer a wealthy teenager to a rehabilitation facility. This seemingly straightforward gig rapidly escalates into a dangerously chaotic adventure.
The ensemble cast includes "The Black Phone" star Mason Thames as the teen, alongside Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage. This project marks Blair's third feature film, following "The Toxic Avenger" and "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore."
"The Shitheads" is scheduled to be released in U.S. movie theaters this summer. The acquisition highlights IFC's commitment to bringing communal comedy experiences back to the big screen.
