The short-lived British television series "Ultraviolet," starring Idris Elba, is now available for streaming on Plex. This six-episode series presents a unique, realistic take on vampire lore, conceptualized as sci-fi rather than fantasy.
Elba plays Vaughan Rice, a security operative for Section V, an organization dedicated to combating supernatural entities known as Code Fives. The series explores a more grounded approach to these creatures, aiming for logical implications if vampires were real.
Directed and written by Joe Ahearne, "Ultraviolet" also features Jack Davenport and Susannah Harker. The show aired on Channel 4 and concluded after its initial season, with the creator feeling the story reached a natural end.
