Elba, with over 130 acting credits, stated he still enjoys acting but finds directing allows for different creative expression and engagement with the filmmaking process. He also discussed his upcoming directorial project for Apple, an adaptation of Neil LaBute's play, which he has transposed to explore themes of marriage, trust, and race. Filmed in Ghana, the production recently concluded.
