Church Firing Leads to Wild Road Trip Comedy

Davis, a church employee, faces termination after showing the youth group Lars von Trier's 'Antichrist,' believing it to be an educational film. His predicament leads him to team up with Mark, a recently laid-off debt collector, to drive the problematic teen Sheridan to a rehab facility across the state. Their journey becomes a wild ride, marked by Sheridan's sociopathic behavior and escalating chaos.

As the unlikely duo transports Sheridan, the trip devolves into a series of increasingly bizarre events. These include malicious druggings, encounters with Strippers and would-be kidnappers like Peter Dinklage and Nicholas Braun, and general mayhem. The film, which premiered as 'The Shitheads' at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, struggles with pacing and character development, ultimately questioning how individuals maintain decency in a world that rewards the opposite.

The movie, set to be released on August 28, explores themes of decency and the subhuman treatment of the working class. Despite moments of madcap insanity, the uneven plotting and credibility gaps hinder its comedic impact. The film, graded C+, attempts to blend genres but ultimately falls short of its ambitious goals.
