The upcoming animated adventure, *Ice Age: Boiling Point*, has unveiled its first trailer, hinting at a fiery new challenge for the prehistoric herd. The preview showcases Scrat, the franchise's persistent squirrel, navigating the prehistoric landscape with his newly introduced baby. Their playful squabble over an acorn takes a perilous turn as a volcano erupts, spewing lava and forcing Scrat and his offspring to desperately hop across ice floes for survival.
Franchise veterans Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah are reprising their roles and shared insights into the new installment. Latifah described the film as finding the lead characters at a 'fork in the road,' embarking on a journey to a lost world filled with dangerous new obstacles. The film is set to open next February, continuing the beloved animated series that launched in 2002.
This marks a significant milestone for the *Ice Age* franchise as *Boiling Point* will be the first theatrical film not produced by Blue Sky Studios, which closed in April 2021. Despite this change, voice actors John Leguizamo and Simon Pegg are also set to return, promising a familiar yet exciting new chapter for the series that has grossed over $3.2 billion worldwide across its previous installments.
