The sixth meeting of the Ibero-American Forum of Deputy Ministers of Culture occurred for the first time during Rio2C, a major creativity event in Rio de Janeiro. This gathering brought together top officials from 17 member countries, including Bolivia, Brazil, Portugal, and Spain, to deliberate on crucial public policies for the region's burgeoning creative sector.
Promoted by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), the Forum, established in 2024, aims to bolster the creative economy. Brazil, holding the Forum's temporary presidency, hosted this pivotal session. The meeting saw the upcoming signing of a cooperation agreement between OEI and Fundação Itaú.
This agreement is designed to structure data and indicators for measuring the creative industries' impact on sustainable development. Discussions also included the renewal of the 2006 Ibero-American Cultural Charter, with a new version slated for approval in November. Brazil's Ministry of Culture also presented its virtual school's Portuguese and Spanish-language courses.
