Human Forever: Hope in Global Dementia Care

Human Forever, directed by Jonathan de Jong, has achieved a historic milestone as the most-watched human interest documentary in Dutch cinema. The film documented humanitarian activist Teun Toebes' extensive three-year journey across the globe, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with dementia. Its success has led to a sequel, Human II Forever, currently in production.

The sequel reunites De Jong and Toebes, venturing into how communities are formed and how their insights can combat loneliness and isolation. Human Forever garnered significant acclaim, premiering at the G20 summit and later released in 30 countries. Its impact was recognized by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, who called it a "monument to all people with dementia."

With 80,000 admissions in the Netherlands and an award at the Netherlands Film Festival, the documentary has secured distribution deals with major broadcasters in France, Germany, and Belgium. Production for Human II Forever is currently underway in diverse locations including Brazil, Japan, Tanzania, and the UK, with De Jong emphasizing its focus on hope, community, and inclusive societies.
