Huma Qureshi Heartbroken as Powerful Jolly LLB 2 Scenes with Akshay Kumar Were Cut

In November 2025, acclaimed actress Huma Qureshi spoke candidly about a professional disappointment she experienced while working on the 2017 film Jolly LLB 2. Huma, who is currently starring in Maharani Season 4 and the upcoming Delhi Crime Season 3, revealed that her role in the courtroom drama was substantially reduced during the final editing process.

Discussing her collaboration with director Subhash Kapoor, Huma recalled being "really upset" when she realized her part had been significantly diminished. "I remember being really upset about it and saying, 'I'm not doing anything in this film,'" she shared. Kapoor, who later cast Huma as the lead in Maharani, tried to console her by highlighting the positive audience reactions to her portrayal of the character Pushpa Pandey.

Huma also disclosed that one of her most impactful scenes, in which her character confronts Akshay Kumar's lawyer Jagdishwar Mishra, was ultimately cut from the final version of Jolly LLB 2, despite being featured in the trailer. "There was a very strong scene that was there in the trailer but never made it to the film, in which I scream at Akshay sir's character and show him the right path. That never made it to the final film," she lamented.

While Huma's screen time in Jolly LLB 2 was limited, she was able to revive her character in the third installment of the franchise, which was released in June 2025. Reflecting on the experience, the actor acknowledged that such changes are often part of the filmmaking process, but admitted that it was still difficult to accept. "Sometimes, some of your best scenes get cut out. No one really plans it, but it happens. I was very upset that I didn't really have an arc. I detest from my core playing ornamental parts, and that's what it ended up becoming. But sometimes there's nothing you can do."
