Hrithik Roshan Wins Partial Victory in Delhi High Court Personality Rights Case

In a recent development, the Delhi High Court has issued a directive to remove certain links and listings on various internet and e-commerce websites that allegedly infringed on the personality rights of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. The court's decision, delivered on October 15, 2025, comes in response to a suit filed by Roshan seeking protection of his persona from unauthorized commercial use.

While the High Court granted partial relief to the actor, it declined to grant ex-parte orders against Instagram pages and fan clubs of Roshan. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora noted that the fanpages could not be taken down at this stage, as there was no evidence of commercialization or defamatory content about the actor.

Roshan's legal team, led by Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, had argued that the actor's images and name were being used for profiteering purposes, such as the sale of merchandise like bags and clothing. The court, however, was not persuaded by the argument regarding the use of Roshan's performance in dance tutorials, stating that such use was not considered commercial in nature.

The matter will be further heard by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, as Roshan has also moved against unknown individuals who might be using his name, image, persona, or voice without his permission for monetary benefits. The actor is seeking comprehensive protection of his personality or publicity rights, including his name, voice, image, and likeness.
