Houston Puja Draws Thousands in North America

Houston Durgabari Puja 2026 successfully concluded, marking one of the largest Durga Puja gatherings in North America. The event welcomed close to 5,000 devotees and visitors over several days.

This significant celebration was made possible by the dedication of approximately 300 volunteers who planned for months. Their coordinated efforts covered religious rituals, logistics, hospitality, food services, and cultural programming, ensuring a smooth experience for all attendees.

The heart of the festival lay in its religious observances, with volunteers meticulously performing each ritual. A notable highlight was the Sandhi Puja, where 108 lotuses were offered to Ma Durga, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere.

Decorative elements transformed the temple into an immersive celebration of Bengal, featuring life-size paintings, Chandannagar-style light installations, and traditional motifs. Attendees enjoyed a variety of Bengali meals throughout the Puja days.

The cultural calendar included performances like a tribute to Uttam Kumar, a fashion show, dance productions, and musical presentations by local and invited artists, underscoring the community's vibrant cultural pride.
