M. A. Romero's new thriller, "Hour and Twenty" ("Hora y veinte"), is set to premiere on March 12 at the Málaga Festival. The film centers on Manuela, a mother whose son disappears on Christmas Eve in a shopping mall.
As two investigators delve into the case, Manuela faces the unsettling possibility that she is losing her grip on reality. With no evidence of a kidnapping, the situation escalates when authorities uncover her criminal past, and no one seems to remember her with a child.
Macarena Gómez, Roberto Álamo, and Emma Suárez star in the film, produced by Luces y Acción AIE and others. It was filmed in Torrevieja, Martos, and Madrid, with support from Canal Sur and Torrevieja's Town Hall.
Director Romero describes the film as a high-concept thriller designed to maintain tension and emotional stakes. "Hour and Twenty" is being distributed in Spain by A Contracorriente Films, which is also handling international sales. Actor-producer Salva Reina views A Contracorriente's involvement as a validation of the film's quality.
