Production is scheduled to begin in Oklahoma this May. Sorkin has described the film as an exploration of "brutal honesty and grotesque womanhood," aiming to resonate with young women.
The story centers on two childhood best friends in a small Pacific Northwest town during an intense heatwave. Their friendship reaches a breaking point when a revenge plan against an ex-boyfriend results in a violent incident.
Over a single night, the protagonists grapple with the fallout of their actions, facing buried trauma, loyalty conflicts, and evolving identities. The film is produced by Jordan Wagner and Christine Vachon.
Newton's upcoming roles include the Basquiat biopic 'Samo Lives' and Lionsgate's 'Devil's Mouth.' Reid recently earned an Emmy for her work on 'The Last of Us' and will star in Netflix's 'Roommates.' Dove Cameron's recent project, '56 Days,' was a global success on Prime Video. J. Smith-Cameron is known for her Emmy-nominated role in 'Succession' and will appear in CBS's 'Elsbeth.' Painter is set to appear in FX's series 'The Shards.'
