Hooters Movie: Bikinis, Burgers & Big Screen

A new movie is set to bring the story behind the famous Hooters restaurant chain to the big screen.

"Hooters: The Movie" is being produced by the chain's original founding partners and will be directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Jon Rosenbaum. The screenplay is penned by Ed Droste, Phil Open, and Chuck Melcher.

The film will delve into the real-life events surrounding the founding of Hooters. It centers on Ted and Lenny, two lifelong friends from Iowa who unexpectedly establish a national restaurant empire. Their adventure begins when Ted becomes infatuated with Diane, who later becomes the very first Hooters Girl.

Ed Droste, a co-founder and producer, expressed excitement, stating, "I think people are going to enjoy watching how we were really just some guys who didn't know what we were doing, but had a great time doing it." He added that the movie will have drama, heart, and fun, celebrating the brand's culture and humor.

Director Jon Rosenbaum shared his enthusiasm, "From the moment I first learned the Hooters origin story, I knew it would make an incredible movie." He described it as a combination of a hilarious buddy comedy and an inspiring biopic. Production is slated for November, with primary filming locations in the Tampa/Clearwater, Florida area, where the original Hooters restaurant opened in 1983.

Casting is currently underway, with production eyed for November. The film aims to capture the wild journey of two friends who bet everything on a crazy idea, resulting in something bigger than they imagined. It promises to be mostly true, with an unexpected and entertaining narrative.
