The comedic adventure film "Holy Days" is slated for a March 27 theatrical release in the United States and Canada. This film marks the directorial debut of Nat Bolt, who also stars in a supporting role. The movie features a star-studded cast including Judy Davis, Miriam Margolyes, and Jacki Weaver.
These acclaimed actresses portray elderly nuns who undertake an unconventional road trip across New Zealand. Their mission is to retrieve the soul of a young boy's deceased mother from heaven. This urgent quest must be completed before the boy's father's new girlfriend, Liz, played by Bolt, takes her place in the family.
As the nuns and the young boy, Elijah Tamati, navigate their unusual adventure, their reluctant partnership evolves into a deep bond of faith and friendship. The film, based on a novel by Dame Joy Cowley, was produced by Velvet Moss and Lily Pictures, with filming completed in New Zealand.
"Holy Days" received financing from various entities, including the New Zealand Film Commission, Telefilm Canada, and CBC Films. Blue Fox Entertainment is handling international sales and will be presenting the film to foreign buyers at upcoming festivals.
