Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal's professional relationship began in 2015 while filming 'Pilgrimage' in rural Ireland. During this time, they provided mutual support for each other's audition tapes for significant Marvel roles.
Bernthal recalled Holland's intense focus, stating, "He really believed he was going to get it." Holland remembers Bernthal suggesting he be part of his audition tape for Spider-Man, a move he saw as a "second audition."
Both actors have since achieved major success. Holland became Marvel's new Spider-Man, appearing first in 'Captain America: Civil War,' while Bernthal starred as The Punisher in his own Netflix series. They have since worked together on two more projects.
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is now available digitally on October 6, with physical media releases on December 15. The film continues Peter Parker's story after 'Spider-Man: No Way Home,' featuring his struggles to live a solitary life, his relationship with MJ and Ned, and a new friendship with Frank Castle.
