Dustin Hoffman and Leo Woodall have formed a unique bond while working on their new film, "Tuner," set to release in limited theaters on May 22, 2026.
The movie features Hoffman as Harry, a master piano tuner, and Woodall as his apprentice, Niki. Niki struggles with hyperacusis, an extreme sensitivity to noise, a trait that inadvertently leads him into the criminal underworld when his ability to crack safes is discovered.
Despite the age and experience gap, Hoffman and Woodall developed an immediate rapport, finding common ground in their personalities and humor. Woodall recounted initial nerves before Hoffman joined the shoot, but the veteran actor's presence quickly put him at ease.
Both Woodall and co-star Havana Rose Liu committed to months of piano training to authentically perform live on the instrument during filming. This dedication was crucial for maintaining the film's believability, a challenge they both embraced.
"Tuner" will expand to nationwide release on May 29, 2026.
