HK Film Forum Showcases New Asian Cinema

The 24th Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has announced its selection of 12 work-in-progress film projects. These projects will be presented from March 17-19, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The lineup brings together prominent Asian film stars and emerging directorial talent.

Seven of the 12 titles are directorial debuts, with filmmakers like Arvin Belarmino and Chahat Mansingka stepping behind the camera for the first time. These projects, mostly in post-production, are set to be pitched alongside the 30th edition of FilMart. Budgets for individual projects can reach up to $2.2 million.

The selected films cover a wide array of genres. "Good Trip" is a comedy-drama featuring Nick Cheung Ka-fai and Chung Suet-ying, while "The Sea Speaks His Name" is a political drama from Indonesia starring Reza Rahadian and Dian Sastrowardoyo. Other notable entries include "My Mother," an Indonesia-Japan-Hong Kong co-production, and "Ria," a multi-country co-production from the Philippines.

"A Ghost in the Market" by Taiwan's Chin Chia-Hua and "Farewell My Blue Bird" by Zhang Tao are also among the featured projects. The WIP presentations will offer 10-minute first looks to distributors, producers, investors, and festival programmers, fostering potential collaborations and funding opportunities.
