- The event for Meesaya Murukku 2 was cancelled by police due to safety fears.
- Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi expressed regret for not being able to meet fans.

An anticipated promotional event for Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi's upcoming film, Meesaya Murukku 2, was abruptly cancelled on Saturday, August 8, in Chennai. The event, held at Phoenix Mall in Velachery, was intended to celebrate Aadhi's return as director. However, the free nature of the promotion attracted an overwhelming number of fans, far exceeding the venue's safe capacity.
The massive turnout quickly escalated into a crowd-management crisis. Reports and videos depicted a densely packed mall with external crowds contributing to significant traffic disruption around Velachery. Police officials assessed the escalating situation and determined that proceeding with the event posed a serious safety risk, fearing a potential stampede.
Authorities advised and subsequently ordered the cancellation of the event. Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi, who had arrived at the venue, followed the police's instructions and departed without proceeding with the planned program. He later addressed his disappointed fans through a video message, regretting his inability to meet them due to the safety concerns and police directives.
Meesaya Murukku 2, directed by Aadhi himself, is slated for a release on September 25. The film features a cast including Chaithra J Achar, Ketika Sharma, Ramya Ranganathan, and Harshath Khan.
