Summary

- The venture aims to shift revenue from record companies to artists and managers.
Merck Mercuriadis is launching Hipgnosis Artist Partnerships, a new venture that will combine eight substantial management companies into a single, powerful entity. This initiative was detailed at the Music Tectonics conference in Santa Monica.
This partnership model focuses on a revenue-share structure where artists and managers will co-own all assets created during their relationship. Mercuriadis emphasized that artists will be majority shareholders, ensuring them greater control and financial benefit. The first transaction for this venture is anticipated in the first quarter of 2027.
Mercuriadis stated that Hipgnosis Artist Partnerships intends to shift value away from record companies and toward artists and managers. While leasing infrastructure from major labels like Universal, Warner, and Sony, the firm will retain control over financial decisions. This follows Mercuriadis's previous success with Hipgnosis catalog investment companies, which he built starting in 2017 and later sold.
