The "Highlander" franchise is set for a major reboot, with former "Witcher" star Henry Cavill taking on the iconic role of Connor MacLeod. Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the "John Wick" series, the new film promises a fresh take on the immortal Scottish duelist.
First footage revealed Cavill delivering the famous line, "My name is Connor MacLeod. I was born in 1518. And I am immortal." The visuals showcase dynamic sword fighting within a neon-drenched club, interspersed with behind-the-scenes glimpses and cast interviews.
Marisa Abela, who plays a key role, highlighted the intensity of her character's action sequences. The production boasts striking practical sets and bright colors, with a climactic moment featuring Dave Bautista's antagonist, The Kurgan, confronting Abela's character.
Filming is currently in progress across multiple international locations, including the rugged Scottish Highlands and the bustling city of Hong Kong. Russell Crowe stars as the mentor character Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, and Dave Bautista takes on the role of the formidable antagonist, The Kurgan.
The ensemble cast also includes Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Irons, Drew McIntyre, and Max Zhang. This reboot is based on the screenplay by Kerry Williamson and Mike Finch, reimagining the original 1986 fantasy film.
