- Chad Stahelski directs the reboot of the cult IP.

Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists has unveiled the latest vision for Highlander, featuring Henry Cavill as immortal warrior Connor MacLeod and Russell Crowe as his mentor Ramirez. The film's director, Chad Stahelski of the John Wick franchise, is steering this reboot of the beloved cult IP.
Production experienced a setback when Cavill sustained an injury during pre-production training last year, leading to a delay. The original 1986 Highlander, directed by Russell Mulcahy, depicted an ancient conflict among immortals, weaving together past and present narratives.
This new theatrical feature is described as loud, international, stylish, and grand. It follows the Immortals as they advance through centuries toward a climactic 'Gathering,' where only one will remain after dramatic duels and elaborate costume designs.
Amazon MGM Studios now holds full rights to the original 1986 film, with potential for developing a new series. Lionsgate was involved in the film's development.
