Summary
- Actor Steve Howey's mustache vanished weeks after joining High Potential's second season
- Showrunner cites behind-the-scenes circumstances as the reason for the sudden shave
- Co-star Morgan's critical comments may have influenced the character's decision to lose the mustache

Just weeks after joining the cast of the TV show High Potential for its second season, actor Steve Howey's character, Nick Wagner, has undergone a surprising transformation. The LAPD squad's new captain, who was initially introduced with a prominent mustache, has now shed the facial hair, leaving fans puzzled.
According to High Potential's showrunner, Todd Harthan, the reason behind the sudden shave is not due to the character's impulsive nature, but rather due to behind-the-scenes circumstances. Harthan revealed that Howey was also filming another TV show, in which he was required to have a full beard, a look that the showrunner was not interested in for the High Potential character.
While Harthan acknowledged that the character's co-star, Morgan, had made critical comments about the mustache, he believes this may have contributed to the character's decision to shave it off. "I can imagine him taking a few potshots from others and thinking, 'If I hear one more damned comment about my mustache, I'm ripping this bitch out in front of everyone,' and then having to live with Morgan's simmering joke," Harthan said.
Despite the unexpected change, the showrunner believes the mustache suited Howey's face and the character's corporate swagger. The facial hair was prominently featured in the season's early trailers, making its sudden disappearance all the more surprising for viewers.
