Summary
- The Hellraiser game is a single-player survival horror experience.
- The game features extreme sexual and violent content.
- Technical glitches plague the Hellraiser Revival gameplay.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, a single-player survival horror title, has recently launched, aiming to capture the brutal world of the original films. Players step into the shoes of Aidan Lynch, who must rescue his girlfriend Sunny after she is taken to a hellish dimension by Pinhead and his Cenobites. The game does not shy away from the franchise's notorious graphic content, featuring extreme violence and sexual themes that push boundaries.
The gameplay loop closely approximates modern survival horror titles, focusing on exploration, item collection, and combat. Players can engage enemies directly or employ stealth, utilizing melee weapons, firearms, and supernatural abilities granted by the Genesis Configuration. However, the game's most engaging moments appear to be its labyrinthine sections, featuring puzzle-solving and escape sequences from terrifying entities, offering a stark contrast to the repetitive environments of the Scarlet Church compound.
Unfortunately, Hellraiser: Revival suffers from significant technical issues. Glitches range from textures failing to load and enemies morphing into furniture to severe framerate drops and unresponsive save stations. These instabilities escalate deeper into the game, with a critical bug affecting the final boss and a cutscene glitch concluding the experience. Despite its $39 / £34 price point, these technical shortcomings make it difficult to recommend for the current Halloween season, especially when compared to other notable horror releases of the year.
