Carlos Reygadas's new feature, Heil Jupiter!, is set to premiere at the New York Film Festival in late September. mk2 films has acquired the international sales rights for the film, which marks Reygadas's return to filmmaking since his 2018 feature, Our Time. Heil Jupiter! promises a dreamlike, feral cinematic expression contrasting elemental pleasures with authoritarian brutality.
Originally announced eight years ago as Wake of Umbra, Heil Jupiter! was filmed across Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, and Mexico. Reygadas described the extended production as a period of "deep investigation." The filmmaker has a notable history at the Cannes Film Festival, winning the Jury Prize for Silent Light and Best Director for Tenebras Lux.
