In November 2025, Entertainment Weekly reported that Heidi Gardner has landed her first movie role since departing Saturday Night Live earlier this year. Gardner has been cast in Scary Movie 6, the latest installment of the popular horror comedy franchise.
The 51-year-old comedian will be joined by a star-studded ensemble, including fellow SNL alumni Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott. The Wayans brothers, who created the original Scary Movie films, have reunited to write the script and produce the project.
Details about Gardner, Oteri, and Elliott's characters are being kept under wraps, but there is speculation that Oteri may reprise her role as Gail Hailstorm from the first Scary Movie film. As for Elliott, he previously appeared in two previous entries in the franchise.
Scary Movie 6 marks the first time in 18 years that the Wayans brothers have collaborated on an original script for the series. They have promised the new film will be "no holds barred and equal opportunity offenders," as they aim to parody a new generation of elevated horror movies.
