The highly anticipated "Heartstopper Forever" film will not premiere before the release of the final book in Alice Oseman's graphic novel series, scheduled for July 2. Oseman emphasized that the book must come out first to allow fans to experience the story's conclusion as intended. Filming for the movie, which centers on the queer romance between British students Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, concluded last year. It is now nearing the end of its post-production phase, with final visual effects and animation work underway.
The See Saw Films-produced series, which originally launched on Netflix in 2022, concluded its run after three seasons last year. A movie was later ordered in lieu of a fourth season, following a reported dip in ratings for its third season. Oseman, who is heavily involved in the adaptation, recalled pitching the series to Netflix with the concept of filling a market gap for a young queer male couple's story. The "Heartstopper" novels were initially self-published via Kickstarter before being published by Hachette Children's Group.
