Four decades ago, the iconic rock band Heart celebrated a monumental achievement with their power ballad "These Dreams." On March 22, 1986, the song soared to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, marking their very first chart-topping single.
This significant milestone occurred after the band had already released several well-known hits. The self-titled eighth studio album, "Heart," released in 1985, spawned multiple Top 10 singles, including "What About Love" and "Never." The album itself also achieved a unique distinction, becoming Heart's only record to reach the pinnacle of the Billboard Top 200 chart.
"These Dreams" holds a special place as one of only two singles featuring Nancy Wilson on lead vocals instead of her sister, Ann. Nancy recounted that the extreme success of the song, initially recorded with a scratchy voice due to a cold, caused some friction between the sisters. Heart later achieved two more No. 1 hits: "Alone" in 1987 and "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" in 1990.
