In Hazaribag, a 70-year-old Ambassador car, which served as the official vehicle for deputy commissioners until 1996, has been restored and is now a prominent exhibit.
This vintage car, believed to be manufactured in 1957, was brought back to its former glory through a restoration project initiated by the incumbent Deputy Commissioner, Hemant Sati. He was inspired to preserve this important piece of the district's administrative heritage.
The restored Ambassador car, a former symbol of authority and status, is now housed in the atrium of the Hazaribag collectorate building. The district administration also intends to establish a museum to conserve similar historical artifacts from its past.
Previously, in 2016, a similar restoration was attempted by a former DC, but the vehicle later fell into neglect. This latest effort ensures the car, which evokes personal memories for many residents, is preserved as a reminder of a bygone era.
