Panettiere's Pain: A Reckoning with Mystery Illness

Hayden Panettiere experienced severe leg pain, akin to 'pins and needles,' which affected her mobility. During a book tour event in May, she took measures to ensure her ex-boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was not present, with private security enforcing these instructions. Hickerson was reportedly with Panettiere when she was found deceased in her South Carolina apartment on August 16. Initial reports indicated no foul play, with an autopsy showing no signs of trauma.

Panettiere's memoir, released in May, detailed a history of violence from Hickerson, which led to his arrests. Her mother corroborated the severity of her pain and fear a year prior, seeking medical and alternative treatments for her daughter's condition. The actress had also been candid about her lifelong struggles with depression and addiction, including early use of prescribed medication and later reliance on alcohol and opioids.
