Hayden Panettiere's Ex Involved in Death Probe

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, who passed away at 36. Her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was present at the South Carolina residence when Panettiere was discovered unresponsive on August 16, 2026. Hickerson and his brother, Zach, called 911 after finding her.

Police reports indicate that Brian Hickerson provided authorities with a bag containing medication Panettiere had allegedly been taking. Hickerson has a documented history of legal issues with Panettiere, including multiple domestic violence charges. He was previously sentenced in 2021 after pleading no contest to two felony charges stemming from incidents involving the actress.

In the days leading up to Panettiere's death, Hickerson was reportedly in Los Angeles court attempting to have his felony charges reduced, but his motion was denied. During the welfare check, officers observed two police cruisers at the residence, but no one answered the door. Zach Hickerson appeared emotional as paramedics attempted to revive Panettiere, while Brian Hickerson reportedly only became emotional after she was declared deceased.
